Break out the wetsuits…
The Dean Randazzo Cancer Foundation is excited to announce that the 5th Annual “Freeze for a Cause” surf contest will be held Saturday February 22, 2014 at the world famous Steel Pier in Atlantic City , NJ.
The Freeze for a Cause is NJ’s only extreme cold water surfing contest and includes a Jr Mens (18 and under), Men’s(19 and 34), Sr Mens, (34 and Up) , Women’s Open and a Long Board Open divisions. Following the event, there is an after party hosted by the DRCF, at Margaritaville in Resorts Casino beginning at 5 p.m. with, dinner buffet, door prizes, raffles, cash bar and a great night out supporting a great foundation. Tickets for the after party are $25.00 at the door.
“I truly love the Freeze for a Cause, it is always a great time. It is really cool how the surfing community comes together in freezing temperatures to help the foundation raise money for what we do. It’s a great way to get together in the winter with some people you haven’t seen since September,” said Frank Levin, DRCF Trustee. The Freeze for a cause was the brain child of Nick Bricker, Sam Hammer and Shannon Hammer Korb. The event was originally held to benefit Dean as he battled cancer for the fourth time.
The Dean Randazzo Cancer Foundation is a New Jersey Non Profit and 501(c)(3) charitable organization. Donations to the Foundation are tax deductible. The Foundation was created 10 years ago when New Jersey Professional Surfer, Dean Randazzo was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma, a cancer of the lymph nodes. Since successfully battling the disease three times, Dean continues his competitive professional surfing career, proudly representing the Garden State all over the world.
Donations to the Dean Randazzo Cancer Foundation are used to, promote cancer awareness and assist individuals battling cancer both financially and emotionally. To date, the Foundation has donated over $350,000.00 to individuals and organizations such as the Ruth Newman Shapiro Cancer Fund, Shore Memorial Hospital Cancer Center, Gilda’s Club of South Jersey and The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society of South Jersey Cape Regional Cancer Center and Atlantic Care Cancer Center.
