ATLANTIC CITY – Surfers will suit up and dive into frigid waters of the Atlantic Ocean to raise funds for The Dean Randazzo Cancer Foundation its 6th annual Freeze for a Cause Saturday, Feb. 28.
The foundation raised more than $10,000 last year thanks to the 70 surfers at Jersey Devil Surf beach and twice as many people who attended the afterparty at Margaitaville at Resorts Hotel Casino.
The first competition will begin at 10 a.m. at North Carolina Avenue beach in Atlantic City with spectators lining the beach and the world famous Steel Pier. There is mandatory check in required for surfers 9-10 a.m. Saturday at North Carolina beach in Atlantic City. Registration for the first division is $30 online and $40 the day of the event. Additional divisions are $15 each. Contestants will receive an event T-shirt with their entry, after party tickets and prizes. See www.deanrandazzocancerfoundation.org for advance registration. The surfing divisions are: Junior men’s – 18 years and younger; Men’s – 19-35 years old; Grand Master’s – 36 years and older; Women’s, Longboard and Stand-Up Paddleboard. The deadline for sponsorship is Feb. 20.
